Taryn Hillin is a screenwriter, author and journalist living in Los Angeles, CA and currently in the Universal Pictures Writers Lab. Of Native American, Spanish and Irish descent (and as a cancer survivor) she loves telling stories of underdogs who persevere against all odds. 

Professionally, Taryn has made a name for herself in media as a writer and producer for TMZ, an editor for The Huffington Post, a reporter for Fusion (the millennial-focused joint venture from ABC and Univision), and VP of Strategy for Entity Mag (a digital site focused on college-aged women and mentorship). Her reported work has been cited by The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, The Washington Post, Slate and more.

Taryn’s creative writing includes screenplays, books, short films and plays.  She co-wrote the horror film Pernicious (directed by James Cullen Bressack) and earned a story and dialogue credit on Stranger In Paradise (starring Stuart Townsend and Colin Egglesfield).  With a passion for Young Adult books and films her YA work includes The Imati (published YA supernatural-fantasy novel).

She is currently in the Universal Pictures Writers Lab and is a recent alum of the Sony Television Diverse Writers Program.

She graduated from Yale University with a degree in Political Science and Comparative Government, with a focus on the Middle East.
